So on the 1st December, every Singapore citizen aged 18 and above was given S$100 SingapoRediscover Vouchers (SRV) to spend on the tourism sector. In particular, attractions, hotels and tours.
These vouchers can be used any time from now until the 30th Jun 2021, so don’t worry if you want to wait out the school holidays before booking anything! For me, this only meant one thing:
One big thing on everyone’s mind is how to use these vouchers, and whether it is an easy process. In this article, I’ll take you through the process of using these vouchers particularly on Trip.com!
In case you didn’t know, Circles.Life is running a promotion with Trip.com and is giving away prizes for people spending their SRV with them!
Every $10 cash/SRV voucher entitles you to a lucky draw ticket, and stand a chance to win the first prize of a 2D1N Staycation at Orchard Rendevouz Hotel!
Aiya, since you’re going to use the vouchers anyway, might as well get extra benefits and extra chances to win free stuff right? Don’t say bo jio ah. Click this link here on desktop in order to qualify: https://sg.trip.com/t/circles
Booking your Staycation
With the Circles.Life Promotion, I decided to book it through Trip.com in order to have a chance to win.
Step 1: Picking The Hotels
The first thing I realised is that the hotels that are eligible for the vouchers are already pre-marked that you can use the vouchers at those places.
However the choices here are limited and is just a representation of what hotels that are eligible. In fact, there are a lot of choices from the 3 star to the 5 star hotels depending on where you want to stay and how much you want to spend.
Scrolling down, click the yellow ‘Show More’ button and you’ll be taken back to the usual Trip.com page.
First thing firsts, I had to change the check in date again just to make sure it’s on the right date. Next, make sure the ‘Eligible for SingapoRediscovers Vouchers’ box is checked, but it should be checked by default already.
After that, it’s pretty much the same thing as a normal hotel booking.
Step 2: Checking Out your Order
Once you’ve picked your room like I did with mine, here’s what you should see.
The biggest and most important thing that stands out is the one in big red words. In case you can’t read it:
“Eligible for SingapoRediscover Vouchers. They can be applied on the next page. Please note that bookings involving the use of SingapoRediscover Vouchers are non-refundable and non-resellable.”
That also means you have to be 100% sure before using the vouchers as you cannot change your mind after this booking, so be careful with that! Once you’re finished filling up the details, scroll to the bottom and press the orange ‘DONE’ button to be taken to the next page.
Step 3. Redeeming Your SingapoRediscover Vouchers
NOTE: From this point, you will need your SingPass login, password, and your phone in order to access your 2FA. Also, have your debit/credit card on hand for payment too. You will also be on a limited timer to use the voucher once you retrieve it from your account, so make sure you can complete the transaction quickly after.
Step 1: On the next page, you’ll see a yellow box as shown below. Click on ‘Apply now>'
Step 2: Click the blue ‘Use SingapoRediscover Vouchers’ when the pop up like in the picture below appears. You’ll be directed over to the SingapoRediscover website after.
This is how the website looks like:
Step 3: Click on the Red Redeem button that says ‘Redeem Vouchers’.
You will then be redirected to the SingPass page. You will need to log in your SingPass like any other government portals you've accessed before. Once you've successfully logged in, you will see a page like this:
Step 4: Generate your coupon code. You can use in $10 denominations, and can choose to use up to $100.
IF YOU HAVE KIDS AND ARE BOOKING FOR ATTRACTION AND YOURS, OR PLANNING TO BOOK ONE IN THE FUTURE: If you have a child, you can buy child/youth tickets at a $10 discount for up to 6 times per account/parent. If you wish to do so, you should not use all your vouchers at once as you will not be able to redeem this discount anymore.
Once you are done with the amount, click on the ‘Get Voucher Code’
You will then see a code with a 10 minutes timer. This is when you have 10 minutes to finish your transaction And also, it starts to feel like this:
Step 5: Copy your coupon code and paste it in the line shown in the pop up in Step 2. Tick both boxes then click Apply.
The code below is just for reference only, and you definitely can’t use it again because it’s been used by me 🤣
Step 6: Complete your payment. You should see that the voucher has already applied to the order. In my case, I used the full $100, and it’s shown with the discount and that the balance due is only $165.12 after the vouchers.
Step 7: Done! Once you see the confirmation screen and received the email, you are done and can prepare for your upcoming trip or attraction!
