As we all know, entertainment outlets and gyms will still be closed during Phase 1. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun while we’re still at home so here are my 3 picks for virtual events you can do this June!
1. Absolute You
When the Circuit Breaker was introduced, I was feeling very restless while working from home because my usual routine was that after work, I’d go for one or two spin classes at the Downtown Gallery studio to unwind after a long and stressful day at the office. So you can understand that I was sad when Absolute announced the closure of all their studios. However, shortly after that they introduced their Absolute Home Edition, where people could rent out their spin bicycles, shoes and weights as well as pay to have access to a whole archive of live and pre-recorded classes! Of course, I got the whole package and have been happily spinning at home ever since!
In case spin isn’t your thing, I’m delighted to let you guys know that they’ve recently introduced Absolute You Home Virtual Classes where live and interactive classes will be done (yoga, pilates, dance and F.I.T) via Zoom. I’ve been with them for more than a year now and I can definitely guarantee that you’ll Absolute-ly, pun intended, fall in love with their classes!

2. Netflix Party
Have you ever done that whole thing when you wanted to watch a show with a couple of friends and you all do the whole ‘on the count of 3, we’ll press play at the same time’ shebang but no matter how many times you try, you just can’t sync up together because someone is always one second too slow. Well, with Netflix Party you don’t have to do all of that anymore.
What Netflix Party does is that it synchronizes video playback and, drumroll please, adds a group chat function to your favourite Netflix shows. I don’t know about you, but I’m totally excited to try this out with my friends on a Friday night!
Not sure what to watch? Why not read what our recommendations are for the month of June!
3. Discover Comedy Shows
On May 8th, Circles.Life Discover hosted Singapore Stand Up, the very first online comedy show which featured our local CBs(Comedy Boys) - Jinx Yeo, Jacky Ng, Prem John, Sam See and Muhammad Siraj. Tickets sold like hot cakes and saying it was a hit is probably a huge understatement.
Following up on its overwhelming success, Discover will launch three more comedy shows in June:
The first show, ASEAN Comedy Invasion, starts on June 12th at 8pm and features comedians from the SEA region. Hosted by Sam See, you’ll definitely bust a gut laughing from the impressive lineup which includes Sakdiyah Mar’uf, GB Labrador, Rizan van Geyzal and Red Ollero.
On June 19th, we’re doing Singapore Stands Up Again, a #throwback with our Comedy Boys! In case you’ve missed the first one, not to worry you still have plenty of time to get tickets to catch them in action!
Last but not least, on June 26th and as requested by our users we have our very first Lady Laughs with Discover, featuring an all-female lineup. Grab a drink and get ready for some ROFL moments with Quen Wong, Stephanie Chan, Sarah Peng and Shalynn Hobelsberger!

Looks like June is going to be quite a month, doesn’t it? Personally, I’m looking forward to the comedy shows happening soon. What about you?
